The Horsey Building

Father Kevin Horsey, an Ealing monk from 1942 until his death in 2006, was a prolific child sex abuser. I have written about him before, here and here, The Daily Mail has also named him. His obituary has been taken down off the OPA website.

And yet, the school still has a building named after him, or at least it does according to the school site map on the school website. Building number 13 is the Horsey Building, next to the Orchard Hall.

I rather think it should be renamed, with a public ceremony of rededication to which the press are invited.

  3. From this article I understood a decision had already been taken to rename the 'H' Block.

  4. They have had plenty of time to change the names of the Horsey Building and the Soper Pavilion. The fact that they haven't done so makes it clear that they just don't care.

    1. May I suggest that one very excellent Monk is celebrated in naming a building? I would suggest Dom John Maine. I believe he was a shining example of a human being that cared!....if you know nothing about him then please 'Google' his name, his life was worth celebrating and his achievements were incredible.....I can honestly say, even after leaving St Benedict's some 43 years ago that I still consider him to have been a good guide through life, worthy of celebration......from Robert Thompson, ex-pupil now living in Somerset UK

  5. does anyone remember the traffic light system one of the monks had when I was at the school in the 1970s? If you were called to his office for a caning there were red, yellow and green lights outside and you had to wait until the lights changed until you were allowed to knock on the door. I was told the reason this monk was so sadistic was because he had lost his toes in some sort of accident. I can't remember his name but maybe readers to this blog remember him? Thankfully I left the school after two terms but I have ghastly memories and this is the first time I have spoken about them.

  10. Nothing would surprise me about St Benedict's.

After all we are talking about a school and church that has harboured Paedophile Priests and Teachers for over 6 decades.
